Privacy & cookies
We keep things simple. Smart Gear Vault doesn't ask you to create an account, has no newsletter or comment forms, and doesn't set any cookies of its own.
Who is responsible
Smart Gear Vault is run by Rory King in the UK. If you have any questions about this policy, email smartgearvault@gmail.com.
What data is collected when you visit
- Hosting: the site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
- Visitor statistics: our pages load a visitor-counting script from Tiiny Host (analytics.tiiny.net), which is based on Plausible Analytics. Tiiny Host says it doesn't use cookies or persistent identifiers and doesn't track you across sites or devices. It counts things like page views, the page that referred you, your country and your device type.
- Fonts, icons, styling and images: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, icons from cdnjs (Cloudflare), styling from the Tailwind CSS CDN and background images and some photos from Unsplash. Your browser connects to these services, which receive your IP address as part of the request.
- Amazon links: if you click a link to Amazon UK, Amazon may set cookies on its own website so it can tell that you came from us. That's covered by Amazon's privacy notice and cookies notice, not this policy. We don't see who you are or what you buy, only commission totals.
- Email: if you email us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply, and won't share them or add you to any mailing list. We use Gmail, so Google processes those emails.
Cookies
Smart Gear Vault doesn't set any cookies of its own, and we don't use advertising cookies. If we ever add cookies that need your consent, we'll update this page and ask you first.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it and ask for it to be deleted. To make a request, email smartgearvault@gmail.com. Because we collect very little personal data directly, there's usually little or nothing for us to hand over, but we'll always reply. Requests about data held by Netlify, Tiiny Host, Google, Cloudflare or Amazon should go to those companies. If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes
We'll update this page if anything changes, along with the date at the top.
